Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is the first well coordinated capital city of Sri Lanka. This is one of world heritage named by UNESCO.
King Pandukabeya developed Anuradhapura as complete town. This city had been the capitol city of Sri Lanka during 14 centuries.
It has so many nice & historical places related to Buddhist culture.
1)      Sri Maha Bodhiya.
Sri Maha Bodhi is the plant of Maha Bodhi situated in India. King Dewanampiyatissa was planted the Bodhi in Mahamewuna garden according to the advice of Mahinda (Mihidu) Rahath thero.
2)      Lowamahapaya.
Lowamahapaya is made by king Dutugamunu to use Buddhist monk.
3)      Thuparamaya.
This is made by king Dewanam piya thissa.
4)      Mirisawatiya.
This also made by king Dutugamunu and the wahalkada of the Mirisawatiya entrance is the best wahalkada of the Sri Lanka.
5)      Ruwanwalisaya.


King Dutugamunu made the Ruwanwalisaya as height of 338 feet.
6)      Abeyagiriya.
King Walagamba made the Abayagiriya as height of 350 feet.
7)      Jetawanaramaya.
King Mahasen made this as height in 400 feet. Stone tiled water pond of this temple is only second to Kuttampokuna pond.
8)      Lankaramaya.
King Walagamba made the Lankarama.
9)      Abeyagiriya.


10)   Mihinthalaya.
11)   Isurumuniya.
12)   Awukana Buddha statue.
13)   Samadhi Buddha statue.

14)   Thissa wawe.
15)   Abeya wawe. (Basawakkulama).
